Like many of you, with an interest in solar, I have searched for solar solutions that were affordable and portable. I could not find a solar solution that was easily transported in an RV, it was either too small or too expensive. Some of the portable systems (their description-not mine) cost between $1200-6000 and weighed more than 100 pounds; this is not portable or affordable.
Some of you might decide to install a large solar array on the roof of your RV, and this might seem like a great idea, but there are a few things you should consider first. Hopefully, this site will shed a little light on why I think flat-mounted solar panels on an expensive RV roof (prone to leaking) is a bad idea. I also hope to offer you an affordable alternative that is safer and more efficient, and it is something you can build yourself.
